Virginia L. Houserman, M.D.,
Director of Egg Donation Program,
joined the ART Program in August of 1989. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Subspecialty Board of Reproductive Endocrinology. She received her medical degree from the University of Missouri in 1978, and completed her internship and residency at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles County Hospital in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1982. Her fellowship in infertility was completed at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1984. She served on the faculty of St. Louis University Medical School from 1984-1989 as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Houserman possesses considerable expertise not only in performing in vitro fertilization, but also in supporting the emotions involved in the process. She has personally experienced several egg retrievals and transfers, and is happy to have had success.

Dr. Houserman also has expertise in microsurgical techniques for tubal repair and has extensive training and experience with many forms of pelvic surgery, including laser laparoscopy and operative hysteroscopy.

Dr. Houserman and her husband, actually had the first "natural cycle" in vitro fertilization baby born in the state of Alabama in October 1990. We, of course, are proud to say he was a result of our own ART Program technology.

Failing subsequent fertility treatments, Dr. Houserman ultimately pursued anonymous egg donation. Twins, John and Michael, were born on September 29, 1995 as a result of egg donation.  Dr. Houserman also adopted her daughter, Kristina, from Russia in 200
0 when she was 13 months of age

Having experienced clinical infertility, Dr. Houserman is able to provide personal comprehensive care for her infertility and in vitro fertilization patients at the ART Program.
